Violin and Viola Lessons

Development of the violinist at any age works best when private and group lessons are combined.  Private lessons alone don’t offer the stimulus and motivation of playing in a group; group lessons alone do not focus on posture and details of playing adequately.

Private Lessons

Violin is one of the most complex instruments to master due to the bow, a lack of frets and the importance of correct, fluid posture from the beginning.  This makes it difficult to excel with only group classes, especially for young children without daily parental involvement. The students and parent learn what to practice and how to practice at private lessons.  Private lessons are scheduled Monday - Saturday.

Lessons begin at half an hour for the Preparatory Book and Book 1.  Lessons for young children include time to refine the parents’ teaching skills.

Students in Books II and III have 45-minute lessons.
Students in Book IV and beyond have lessons of 1 hour.
Students who practice a lot receive longer lessons at no extra charge.

Please request scheduling options and tuition rates from andersonvillesuzuki@gmail.com.
Please look at the calendar to get an idea of lesson time availabilities.

Group  Lessons

Students enjoy making music with their peers and playing music theory games together.  The fun of group class and frequent performance opportunities help make the goal of daily practice achievable.  All are welcome to visit a group class to see how students play and to speak with parents about the program.  You can see featured ASA students perform by going to YouTube.

Group meets weekly during each quarter at 4636 N. Ravenswood, Suite 205 (west side of Metra tracks between Wilson and Leland).  Schedule is subject to change.

Advanced Group(books III – V)  Tuesdays 5:45 – 6:45
Intermediate Group (Book II)  Tuesdays 6:45 – 7:45.
Beginners  Group Thursdays 5:45 - 6:345
